Mission Statement: The Junkyard youth group wants to live for God everyday by learning about Him, helping others, reaching the lost, and making friendships.
We divide our youth group into three segments based on school grades – Junkyard 67 for sixth and seventh graders, Junkyard 89 for eight and ninth graders and Junkyard HS for tenth through twelfth grade. All groups meet on Wednesday nights. Click on an age segment below for specific information on each.
Junkyard youth group starts the Wednesday after the Ankeny schools begin and runs through mid-May. Students can be dropped off at the south entrance to check in. Once they’re at the church, they’ll be divided into their car groups.
What are these car groups?
What’s with all the events?
Winter/Bad Weather Policy: If Ankeny schools cancel classes for the day OR dismiss early due to bad weather, then there will be NO youth group. If bad weather hits after school, then we will still have youth group and you may use your judgment on if you want to attend or not.
Summers: During the summers, the Junkyard youth group focuses on serving through mission trips. Information on mission trip opportunities will be communicated to the youth and posted on our event calendar.
Similar to confirmation at other church bodies, we offer The Walk to all our 9th thru 12th graders. It’s a time for them to learn some basic fundamentals of Christianity which includes learning about God, the Holy Spirit, Jesus, the Church and the Bible. After completing The Walk, students have the choice to make a public confession of their faith and be included in baptism invitation. The Walk gets advertised during youth group in November and December. The Walk classes begin in January and end at Easter.
