Deepening Our Bonds

Our world is in desperate need of deep connection, and this project will help The Ridge meet this need through a variety of purposeful spaces — from a 205-seat chapel ideal for weddings, funerals or prayer gatherings to living-room style spaces perfect for small groups, counseling and intimate prayer.

The plan also calls for an expansion of our foyer and café space that will encourage people to meet up before services, linger after services or simply catch up midweek. The open and inviting space will also be an ideal venue for Young Adults groups, acoustic worship nights and a host of other activities.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day
drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24 & 25

Sacred, intimate and distinctive, the new chapel will feel different from every other space at The Ridge. This space will help us accommodate weddings, funerals and special events and will also be useful for overflow during high-traffic Easter and Christmas Eve services. 

Congested hallways and Sunday morning traffic jams will be a thing of the past with our expanded café and foyer spaces. An open concept and ample seating will encourage folks to connect before or after services without feeling like they are in the way of others.   

With the existing nursery/preschool wing vacated, we will be able to repurpose these rooms for a variety of functions. Chief among them is meeting space for small groups and Ridge University classes. Room sizes and configurations will vary. 

Outreach comes in many forms, including block parties and church social gatherings. Our expanded and updated outdoor plaza space will allow us to press even more into these fun but important events both for our Ridge family and for our Ankeny neighbors.
