Meet our Partner: Full Gospel Church of God

The Ridge has several mission partnerships in Belize. In 2016 we sent our first group to the community of Orange Walk and began a partnership with Pastors William & Loila Fernandez at Full Gospel Church of God. We have sent groups to Orange Walk every year since.

Belize is a country with great physical and spiritual needs with 41% of the population living below the poverty line. We have been walking alongside the pastors and church to help them further their ministry goals related to education, public health and spiritual development. The Ridge supports the community both through financial commitments and service trips. Given the scope of the project, each trip looks a bit different, and previous visits have included things such as home visits, the operation of children’s programs and sports clinics, serving at a local school, leading worship services, doing light construction projects/painting, visiting local hospitals and visiting local prisons.

Check out the video below to meet the pastors and learn about their vision for Orange Walk.

Partner with Us

We’d love to partner with you in funding our work in Belize. To set up a one-time or recurring gift, please click the link below and then select “Missions (Benevolent)” from the Fund dropdown. Any gift is appreciated, but here are some suggested contribution amounts:

$500 funds vocational training for a teen for one year.
$250 provides lunch for one school-aged child for one year.
$200 covers the cost of home health care for one week.

Nutritional Support

Every school day, Pastor William and his wife, Loila, from Full Gospel Church provide healthy and home-cooked lunches to food-insecure children at a local school in Orange Walk, Belize. The Ridge partners with William and Loila to provide funding for the meals.

Educational Support

In addition to its free lunch program for local elementary students, The Ridge and Full Gospel Church are also committed to supporting continuing education for a number of at-risk children and teens. Meet these students and hear their stories in the videos below.

Rosaria and Brandon's Story

When Brandon and Rosaria lost their mother, the family was left to pick up the pieces not only emotionally but also financially. When Full Gospel Church and The Ridge heard about the family’s troubles, they committed to helping both teens pursue their passions by sending them to vocational school for cooking and barbering. This is their story.

Eduardo's Story

Like many children in Orange Walk, Eduardo faced limited prospects after finishing primary school. Secondary education or vocational training is out of reach financially for
Eduardo and many of his peers, but thanks to a partnership between Full Gospel (Eduardo’s church) and The Ridge, he has been able
to train as a cook, thereby improving his prospects and those of his family.

Hopewell Children's Center

We have supported the directors of Hopewell Children’s Center in Belize financially for several years. We also send volunteer groups to the center on many of our service trips.

Hopewell Children’s Home is a safe place for the abused, orphaned, neglected, and vulnerable children of Belize. These precious children have been removed from their homes by the government and placed at the home. With your help, we can continue to provide for these children who have been rescued from terrible circumstances.

Medical Support

The Ridge is committed to the people of Orange Walk, Belize, in all kinds of ways. Our medical outreach partnership with New Horizons is a central component of this ministry. Tito Garcia and his staff are committed to meeting people’s spiritual needs by first ministering to their physical needs. In addition to our work with Tito’s organization, we also send medical mission workers to conduct free health screenings to residents.

Meet Tito & New Horizons Healthcare

Tito Garcia and New Horizon Home Care Agency provide much-needed at-home medical care to the local community. They are also committed to offering God’s love and hope to those in need.

Upcoming Trip

The October trip will include feeding a daily lunch to kids at the government school, vision screenings and a glasses giveaway for kids and adults (training will be provided). We will also perform light construction projects at church and school. There are plenty of ways to serve, and we’d love to have you on the team! Contact Mary Kohlsdorf for more information.

Estimated Cost: $1,500 per person
Dates: October 21–28
