Bethel Mission

Bethel Mission: Evening Meal

Volunteers from The Ridge serve meals at Hope Ministries’ Bethel Mission on the fourth Friday of every month. Bethel Mission is an emergency shelter for men, located at 1310 6th Avenue in Des Moines.

Two Ways to Serve

  1. Provide Meatloaf. Each month we provide 200 servings of meatloaf to the men living at the shelter and the community surrounding Bethel Mission. Email Mary Kohlsdorf to participate onsite in making the meals.
  2. Serve meals at Bethel Mission. On the fourth Thursday and Friday of each month from 4 p.m. until approximately 5:45, we serve the food to the men who live at Bethel Mission and to men, women and children living in the community nearby. We meet at the church parking lot at 3:30 for those who want to carpool. Those just getting off work downtown can meet us at Bethel Mission at 4 p.m. Anyone age 13 and older is welcome to serve (though those under 18 are encouraged to serve with a parent).
