Similar to confirmation, we offer The Walk to all 9th through 12th graders. It’s an opportunity for youth to learn about God, the Holy Spirit, Jesus, the Church, and the Bible. The Walk takes place February through April. This is a class meant for those who have been following God for days, weeks, months, or years and want to take the next step to confirm and profess their faith to oneself and others. Students go through a journey with large group classes, one on one meetings with a mentor, a Passover experience, and ending with a Walk Sunday celebration.
Students will request their top three mentor picks by November 21, and then the Junkyard staff will discern the best pairings and inform students of their paired mentor by December 17. Once that is done, students will kick off the walk with an informational meeting on January 4 from 11:45am to 1:15pm which will include mentee, mentor, and parents.
After that, students will start meeting regularly with their mentor and having group classes. The dates for group classes are Sundays, January 18, February 1, February 15, March 1, March 8, and March 22. Class times are 11:45am to 1:15pm at the Ridge. The Passover experience will be on Thursday, April 2 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Walk Sunday will be on April 19. If there are any questions about this process, please contact Todd Stiles.
